Problems
The footer design has not been maintained for a long time, the design is inconsistent and some of the footers have accumulated too much SEO text to be user-friendly, therefore it has become difficult to navigate.
Goals
- Design a footer structure that works well for all 7 products and all necessary languages. One might need 20+ provider logos, another might need only 4.
- Decrease the size of the footer. In the most extreme example (StarGames Germany) the old footer takes up more than 8 viewports because of the amount of SEO text.
- Improve the usability of the footer. The old footers seem to serve SEO algorithms more than users.
Good design in itself makes users perceive the product as more trustworthy, which is especially important when it comes to presenting legally and financially binding information.
The Result
Almost all of the SEO text is hidden under a toggle
The order of elements is changed to reflect the importance of various elements
Paragraphs are put in text boxes to improve ease of understanding
All the payment logos are in color and their size is adjusted to look more similar
The footer now takes up less space despite having more information
